GRADE SCHOOL VISIT

The 1st Thursday event was a visit to the Pachanay grade school. The director (principal) was very accommodating and we got to learn about funding and the organization of the school, meet lots of kids from littles through 6th grade, hear some songs in Spanish, Tz'utujil, and English, and meet some of the teachers including a young man from the US who is volunteering full time at the school, teaching English.

Director Nikolas with Theresa, a grade school principal from The Dalles, Oregon.

I was really moved looking from face to face in the 6th grade classes, wondering which of those kids will be able to continue into the next level. Mynor told me he knows of a specific girl in that school who is exceptionally bright and will need outside help to continue in school. She might be our next Beca student!
